Our Mission
Our mission is to provide each customer with “the perfect American whiskey” - whatever they as an individual may see that as. We do this by utilizing our great levels of access to rare and unique whiskeys, our extreme emphasis on customization, and our overarching ambition to challenge norms and explore the wide range of American whiskeys yet to be discovered by the general public.
Rare Character was created to present unique and untasted American whiskeys from across the country. As someone who has been purchasing single barrels for over a decade himself, Co-Founder Pablo Moix has developed personal relationships within the industry which have allowed him access to expressions that have never been bottled for the public. We aim to bring these rare and collectible whiskeys to our customers for the first time ever.
Every whiskey lover has a unique palate, and there is no “one size fits all” whiskey - especially when it comes to picking a single barrel. We aim to help you create a whiskey that speaks to you; whiskey that you can be proud of and eager to share. We want to provide you with whiskey that makes you genuinely excited, and that is uniquely yours.
We pride ourselves on challenging norms and preconceived notions about what American whiskey can be. With the Rare Character Single Barrel Series, as well as future projects such as special collaborations, new brands, and one-off finishing projects, our goal is to push the envelope and introduce new flavors and concepts to whiskey connoisseurs and collectors.
Meet The Team
Rare Character Whiskey was founded by Pablo Moix and Peter Nevenglosky in 2021. Over the years, Pablo and Pete have developed a strong relationship based on their shared love of fine distilled spirits. When catastrophe hit the restaurant and hospitality industries in 2020, the idea for Rare Character Whiskey was born. With Pablo’s renowned palate and passion for the artistry behind whiskey, as well as Pete’s experience in carefully building spirits brands such as Avuá Cachaça and Drifter Spirits, Rare Character is led by a passionate team with the goal of shaking up the American whiskey game.
Pablo Moix is an acclaimed restaurateur, bar owner, and distilled spirits expert. Since his years working as a career bartender, he’s always had an intense passion for fine distilled spirits. Pablo has long held a deep appreciation for the experience of a perfect cocktail or neat whiskey and has always had aspirations of sharing that passion with others who would appreciate his taste and vision. Rare Character provides Pablo with an outlet to use his creativity and palate to make meaningful and interesting selections to share with connoisseurs and collectors of fine American whiskey.
Peter Nevenglosky is deeply passionate about spirits and the stories of the people behind them. As the CEO and Co-Founder of Drifter Spirits, which includes Avuá Cachaça, Paladar Tequila, and Svöl Aquavit, Pete has been telling the stories of great producers across the US and Europe for over a decade. He has taken his experience in branding and storytelling to the inspiring world of American whiskey with Rare Character’s initial products and future offerings.
